What a fun challenge this week: orange! The challenge is to share multiple images of orange, all shades, textures, and types. At first, I didn’t think I would have very many pics to share, but looks like I was wrong! If you want to check out the other orangish tints, go here!
Here’s my submission for the theme this week: reward. This past week was pretty busy for me with very little time to relax. As the snow fell Saturday morning, instead of doing housework, I decided to reward myself with an hour of snow photography. I had the most fun shooting with my old Pentax K10D DSLR, using an even older 50mm Pentax film camera lens. Love the perspective from this little lens!

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was pretty sure winter was on its way out and spring was surely just around the corner. One of the crazy things about life here is that you never know from day-to-day or hour-to-hour even what the weather will do. Within the course of 24 hours this past week, we went from enjoying the sun and spring-like conditions to snow, thanks to winter storm Octavia. We didn’t get much snow, just a couple of inches, and it was really a more of a wintry mix – rain, sleet and snow. But it was cold, very cold (and still is!)

These farm buildings look like miniatures compared to the flat, vastness of the Mississippi River delta. The land and sky just seem like they go on, and on, and on. The approaching Spring storm certainly doesn’t help, it just makes the scene more ominous and lonely. Scale.
