This picture represents 2 ‘journeys’, my family’s and this Mississippi River tugboat.
Last spring my family took a trip to Helena, Arkansas. My husband is a freelance artist and likes to paint landscapes of the Delta, so our trip was part business, part pleasure. At any rate, once we got to Helena, we headed straight for the downtown area and discovered a park right on the mighty Mississippi River. We got there just in time to see this tugboat, the “Marie Henderick” headed up river, pushing a full load.
The web is a wonderful place. In selecting this photo, I did some research on the boat and found out that the “Marie Henderick” was built in 1971 by St Louis Ships, in St Louis, MO. She’s had several owners before and with each a new name: Indian Gold, Sally Kirk, Aaron G, and currently Marie Henderick.
